SAC Sprinters Take Student-Athletes of the Month Honors in March

SANTA ANA, Calif. – After tremendous performances their recent meets, Alexandria Owens and Malik Comford have been named Santa Ana College's Student-Athletes of the Month of March 2018.

Owens was at her best in the month of March, finishing in the top 10 in every event she competed in while also setting the third best mark in school history for the 200 meter dash at a time of 26.15. The freshman from El Dorado High School has shown she can hang with top competition as she finished ninth in the 100 meter dash against many NCAA Division I competitors at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival.

While Owens was making a name for herself on the women's side, Comford established himself as the Dons top sprinter after placing in top 15 for the 100 meter dash in all three March meets. In the Dons second Orange Empire Conference meet of the year, he hit a personal record of 10.98 to take first place in the 100 meter dash. Comford is a freshman out of Segerstrom High School that has immediately improved the SAC Track & Field team.
