Aviles and Marroquin Collect SAC Student-Athletes of the Month Awards in October

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Santa Ana Cross Country runners Servando Aviles and Maria Marroquin have earned the honors of Student-Athletes of the Month for October 2018.

Aviles, a freshman from Anaheim High, has been one of the top finishers for the Santa Ana men all season. In the 2018 Brubaker Invitational, Aviles placed 7th and was the only Don to medal in the event. He followed that with a 2nd place finish in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) Championships to earn a spot on the All-OEC team.  Aviles is majoring in Kinesiology in his first year at Santa Ana College.

Marroquin has placed first for the Santa Ana women's cross country team in every race so far, making her a big reason why the Dons have qualified for the CCCAA State Championships. The freshman from Santa Ana Valley was also the lone Don on the women's side to be named to the All-OEC team as she placed 11th in the OEC Championships. Marroquin is undecided on her major in her first year as a Don.
