Class of 2011
The 1962 Santa Ana College football team dominated opponents while claiming the Dons third National Championship. The Dons finished a perfect 10-0 while shutting out six of their opponents and allowing just 4.3 points per game for the entire season.
The ’62 squad also set team records for most yards rushing with 2,564 while the 41,709 fans in attendance at the Junior Rose Bowl set a domestic record for Santa Ana College.
Individual records set by the ’62 team include most passing yards (1,019 by Dunn Marteen), total offense in conference (1,409 by Marteen) and total offense in a game (290 by Marteen). Marteen also set the second highest mark for points score in conference with 81 and total offense with 1,409 yards.
Hall of Famers on the 1962 team include, Marteen, Frank Andruski and Dick Litzinger.
