Keith Luhnow

Football, Class of 2003

Keith Luhnow played football at Santa Ana College in 1961 and led the Dons to a 7-1-1 mark and an Eastern Conference championship. He was unanimously named an All-American player and still holds the record for yards-per-game rushing (158.9) in a season.

He was part of a Dons offense that ran for a record of 504 yards versus Orange Coast College tallying 276 yards by himself. Ed Arnold , a punter on the 1961 SAC team and teammate of Luhnow, recalls, "Keith was one of the nicest people ever and one of the most powerful runners ever. His game against Orange Coast College (5 touchdowns, 276 yards) was the greatest individual performance I've ever seen."

Luhnow went on to play professional football for the San Francisco 49ers.
