Santa Ana Splits a Pair Against Mt. SAC and El Camino

HERMOSA BEACH, Calif. – The Santa Ana Beach Volleyball team split a pair of games in its doubleheader against Mt. San Antonio College and El Camino College on Friday.

Santa Ana (4-3) started the day with a 4-1 win over Mt. SAC (2-7), extending their win streak to three games. The first two Don pairs earned sweeps against the Mounties as Mikelle Taylor and Viridiana Serrano won their match 21-19, 21-12 and then Britany Tran and Illiana Mendoza followed with a 21-18, 21-16 victory.

In three slot, Kayla Long and Kassandra Murillo won in three sets (21-13, 18-21, 15-10) to extend the Santa Ana lead to 3-0. Lily Reissmueller and Karissa Mumford took their set for the fourth Don point by defeating their opponents 22-20, 21-15.

In their second matchup, the Dons fell to El Camino (9-2) by a score of 4-1 to bring them even for the day. Mikelle Taylor and Viridiana Serrano picked up another win, defeating their opponents 21-19, 21-16 to go 2-0 on the day. The pair is now undefeated this season coming off a CCCAA State appearance in 2016.

The Dons will be in action again on Friday, March 16th as they host Riverside City and Antelope Valley at Newland Beach starting at 10:00 a.m.
