SAC Beach Volleyball Earns First OEC Win

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Santa Ana Beach Volleyball picked up their first win over an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) opponent as they defeated the Riverside City Tigers (1-9) by a score of 4-1 on Friday. The Dons (2-3) also made up a match against Mt. San Antonio (7-1) and fell to the Mounties, 5-0.

Matilde Teixeira and Ines Lopes were locked into the one spot for the Dons and split their matches. The pair was narrowly defeated by Mt. SAC's top team in three sets (22-20, 13-21,15-5) before bouncing back with a 21-17, 21-18 win over their foes from Riverside. 

In the two spot, Tallie Twyman and Kaiden Raif also dropped their first match (21-15, 21-13) but came up with a big win against RCC by a score of 21-15, 21-12. 

Kassandra Zavala had two partners who filled in to compete as SAC's third team. In the first match with Natalie Olivera, the Dons fell to a tough Mountie team, 21-17, 21-19. Zavala then teamed up with Andrea Sanchez to earn a 21-10, 21-13 win against their RCC counterparts. 

Santa Ana saw its fourth pair, Laisha Hochstrasser/Roxanne Costello, drop both its matches while the team composed of Jenna Hoppe and Chelsea Asciak went 1-1 on the day. 

The Dons will be back in action on Friday, March 10th against Saddleback at 10:00 a.m. in another OEC match before facing Long Beach City at noon.
