Dons Baseball Shutout by Cypress

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Santa Ana College Baseball team hosted Cypress College on Tuesday afternoon in its fourth conference game of the season. The Dons were coming off a three-game losing streak, all in conference play, and were looking for their first conference win of the season.

It wouldn't come Tuesday, as they were shut out 11-0 by the Chargers.

Santa Ana's bats were cold in this one, as they failed to record a hit in nine innings, giving the Cypress ace Andrew Quezada a no-hitter.

Guillermo Sanchez took the loss for the Dons, going three innings and giving up 10 runs, three earned.

Pitchers Keaton Freire, Patrick Showalter and Nathan Flores came out of the bullpen and held the Chargers to just one run for the last eight innings.

Santa Ana drops to 14-6 overall and 0-4 in conference play, while Cypress improves to 15-5, 2-2.

The two teams will meet up again on Thursday, March. 16th at Cypress College. The game time is set for 2:00 PM.
