Dons Lose Pitcher’s Duel 1-0

SANTA ANA, Calif. –  It was a pitcher's duel on Tuesday afternoon, as the Santa Ana College Baseball team went up against the Cerritos Falcons (2-0-2) in a non-conference matchup. Though the Dons (3-2) pitching staff had a solid one run on six hits performance, they still fell short as the Falcons earned the win by pitching a 1-0 shutout.

Nathan Flores got the start for the Dons and had a solid outing, going five and a third innings with five strikeouts while allowing just two hits and one earned run. Nathan Cachu was called upon in the sixth and went two full innings with one strikeout and three hits. Cole Hoskins took over in the eighth, going one and two third innings while adding three to his season strikeout total.

For the Falcons, Valentin Flores-Gomez took the mound for eight and a third, earning his first win of the season. He struck out four and held the Dons to four hits before exiting. Edgar Velasquez came in with one out in the ninth to close it out and earn the save.

The only run of the game came in the sixth when the Falcon's Andre Alvarez hit a bases loaded RBI single through the right side with two outs in the inning.

Santa Ana will be back at home against Compton College on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. On Saturday, they'll head to Norwalk for a rematch against the Cerritos Falcons with a start time set for 12:00 p.m.
