Dons Fall to Orange Coast in OEC Opener

SANTA ANA, Calif. –  In its first Orange Empire Conference game of the season, the Santa Ana Baseball team (10-7, 0-1) lost to the Orange Coast Pirates (9-7, 1-0) by a score of 13-2.

Santa Ana fell behind early and failed to get the bats rolling until the final inning. In the second inning, the Pirates put up a three spot and then added to their lead with at least one run in the fourth through the eighth. Bryan Leef finally broke the silence from the Dons by driving in Brian Cromwell on a two out double. Cage Massey continued the rally with an RBI single to bring in Leef for Santa Ana's second and final run.

The Dons have now lost three straight to the Pirates, stemming back to the 2017 CCCAA Super Regionals where the Dons took the initial game but lost the next two.

On Thursday, Santa Ana and Orange Coast will continue their series in Costa Mesa at 2:00 p.m.
