Dons Cruise to Win in Series Opener Against No. 8 Riverside

SANTA ANA, Calif. –  Santa Ana Baseball has now scored 31 combined runs in their last two games after Tuesday's 17-3 blowout win over No. 8 Riverside City.

The Dons jumped on the Tiger's pitching staff early, bringing in five runs on three hits and an error in the first inning. Bryan Leef, Nathan Flores and Andrew Martinez all singled in the inning to drive in runs while Brian Cromwell hit into a fielder's choice for his RBI.

Riverside settled in after that, holding the Dons scoreless for the next four innings and scoring a pair of their own runs to make it a 5-2 game.

Santa Ana's bats came to life once again in the sixth as they banked six runs in back to back innings to put the game out of reach. As a team, the Dons recorded 17 runs on 14 hits, 12 walks and 15 runs batted in.

Nathan Flores earned the win in this one, lasting five innings with two unearned runs and four strikeouts. Four more pitchers combined to toss four innings with one run and six strikeouts finish the game.

The Dons improve to 15-14, 3-7 with the win while Riverside drops to 19-10, 5-5. The two teams will matchup again on Thursday at Riverside starting at 2:00 p.m.
