Santa Ana Stays In the Hunt with 10-6 Win Over Irvine Valley

SANTA ANA, Calif. –  The Dons Baseball team needed a win against Irvine Valley on Thursday to keep their playoff hopes alive. After blowing a three run lead and finding themselves down 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth, the Dons fought back with seven runs in the last four innings to top the Lasers 10-6.

Gabe Armstrong got the start and went five innings with three earned runs and five strikeouts. Nathan Cachu was called on in the sixth inning and went the rest of the way, adding a strikeout and an earned run.

Led by the middle of the lineup, Santa Ana's offense came up big with 10 runs on 14 hits. Juan Gonzalez went 2-5 with an RBI and a run in the three hole while Bryan Leef had two hits, three runs and two RBI's in the cleanup spot.

Adam Cendejas added a spark with two hits and a team high three RBI's, including and triple to the right center field gap in the eighth inning.

 The Dons will go on the road for a must win game three against the Lasers tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
