Sova’s Four Hits Leads Dons to 10-5 Win and Sweep of Cerritos

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Nick Sova had a breakout game as he went 4-4 with four RBI's in Santa Ana's 10-5 win over the Cerritos Falcons (1-9) on Tuesday.

When the game was tied at 4-4 in the fifth inning, Sova came up big with a two run triple to give the Dons (10-4) the lead.  The 6'2 infielder from Canyon High is now hitting .333 with five RBI and seven runs in his freshman season.

The top of Santa Ana's lineup had another big day with James Williams, Raymond Villanueva and Grant Askins knocking in five RBI's on five hits while Chad Wilson did some damage in the six hole with three hits, four runs and an RBI.

Nathan Cachu started the game for the Dons and went four innings with four earned runs and three strikeouts to get the no-decision.

In the fifth, Kyle Hoskins came in and gave the Dons just what they needed as he went three scoreless innings with two strikeouts to shut things down, earning his first collegiate win.

UP NEXT

The Dons hope to stay hot and finish this week with wins on Friday and Saturday. College of the Canyons comes into Don Sneddon Field for round three between the two teams on Friday, at 2:00 p.m. Then the Dons will take the drive to play Oxnard on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
