Ashworth Dominates to Lead Dons to 11-0 Shutout Over Fullerton

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Brady Ashworth dominated on the mound for eight innings to lead No. 2 Santa Ana Baseball to another shutout win over No. 14 Fullerton in the second game of their Orange Empire Conference series on Thursday. 

Ashworth finished with six strikeouts while giving up just three hits in his best outing of the year. The right-hander from Foothill High recorded his fourth win of the season and lowered his ERA to 3.58.

SAC was in control from end-to-end after jumping out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning on a couple of RBI singles by Kyle Morrell and Evan Leibl

The Dons added three more the third on a single from Cedrick Perez, which scored two due to a Hornet error, followed by a run producing ground out by Austin Haller

Just an inning later, Santa Ana collectd two more runs on another Fullerton error and a wild pitch to make it a 7-0. From that point, the Dons coasted and eventually picked up an 11-0 win. 

With the win, Santa Ana moves into a tie with Cypress for third place in the OEC standings at 8-6. They'll go for the sweep against the Hornets on Friday as they travel to Fullerton for the series finale at 2:00 p.m.
