De Anda Leads SAC Baseball Past LA Mission in 13-6 Win

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Despite falling behind 3-0 in the first inning, the Santa Ana Baseball team powered past the LA Mission Eagles (5-10) with 13 runs in their non-conference matchup on Saturday afternoon. 

The Dons (10-6) were led by freshman outfielder Jimmy De Anda who finished 3-5 with three RBI's and two runs. Fellow freshman Michael Poot pitched in with two hits, a couple of runs and an RBI coming from his homerun in the second inning. Eddie Pelc contributed with two hits and two RBI's of his own while also throwing one scoreless inning with two strikeouts in the ninth. 

As a team, the Dons recorded 12 hits and took advantage of the six Eagle errors. But Santa Ana also had their struggles on the defensive side with five errors of their own. 

Jaxton Andeel got his third start of the season and struck out four batters while giving up three runs (one earned) over 3.1 innings for the no-decision. James Showalter picked up the win as he went 2.2 scoreless innings while striking out two to help the Dons top LAMC, 13-6.

With the win, Santa Ana wraps up non-conference play on a two-game winning streak. They'll start Orange Empire Conference play against Orange Coast at home on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. The OCC Pirates (13-4) finished non-conference play on a four game winning streak after defeating Glendale 11-5 on Saturday.
