Santa Ana Eliminates SBCC with 16-8 Win, Sets Up Three Game Series with Cypress

SANTA ANA, Calif. - The Santa Ana Baseball team racked up 16 runs to eliminate the Santa Barbara City Vaqueros in game two of the 3C2A Super Regionals.

The Dons (29-14) got production throughout their lineup but none did more than freshman Mikey Rocha. The shortstop out of Eastlake High went 2-for-4 with four runs batted in, three runs and a walk.

Sophomore infielder Marc Schavone led the Dons in hits with three on the day to go with two runs batted in. Fellow sophomores Mario Tostado and Eddie Pelc recorded the only home runs for the Dons while combining for four hits and two RBI's.

Santa Barbara City also had a good offensive day as they put up eight runs on two hits.

But when the Dons needed it most, David Celoski stepped up to weather the storm on the mound. The freshman right-hander went three and two thirds innings of shutout baseball while striking out three for his second win of the season.

Tostado made his second appearance as a reliever in the ninth and finished the Vaqueros off with a scoreless inning.

The Dons will now match up against the Cypress Chargers who defeated Santa Barbara City in game one of the super regional by a score of 7-2.

First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Game four will be on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and followed by game five 40 minutes after if necessary.
