SANTA ANA - With a break in National Division, Southern Conference action, the Dons hosted Long Beach City College for the 2012 Homecoming Game. SAC gave the home crowd plenty to cheer for as they easily defeated the Vikings 42-7 at the Santa Ana Stadium.
While it was a lopsided win, it took the Dons (4-2) some time to get rolling against the winless Vikings (0-6). The Dons didn't score until the final minute of the first quarter when Divonte Beale ran in from four yards out to give SAC a 7-0 lead.
The Dons scored two more times before the half with both touchdowns being caught by Joshua Webb. His first touchdown was from 49 yards out before making a five yard touchdown catch later in the second. Both touchdowns were thrown by Hayden Gavett.
Beau Perry later replaced Gavett and threw a touchdown pass of his own when he connected with Woody Quinn in the third quarter for a 25-yard touchdown.
The Dons final two touchdowns belonged to the defense. Joshua Butcher returned an interception 33 yards for a score in the third quarter before Kameron Lavine returned an interception 27 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Between the two interceptions, Long Beach scored its lone touchdown of the game on a six yard touchdown pass from Nick Pope to Metui Manu-Auga in the early minutes of the fourth quarter.
Webb was once again the leading receiver for the Dons as he caught six passes for 126 yards and two touchdowns. As a team, the Dons rushed for 192 yards with a balanced rushing attack. Beale led the way with 74 yards and one touchdown while Brett Hurley added 54 yards followed by Perry with 32 yards. Webb added 28 rushing yards to go with his big day receiving.
Defensively, the Dons were led by Marc Millan with 5.5 tackles including 1.5 sacks, 3.5 tackles and two forced fumbles. Chris Manassero added five tackles followed by Justine Lenzelle with four tackles, one interception and one pass broken up.
