Dons Fall to Fullerton in Key to the County Game

The Dons opened their 2016 season with a 56-17 loss to Fullerton College for 94th Key to the County Game. The Dons will look to bounce back next Saturday in their second home game against Citrus College at 6:00 p.m.

After the Hornets scored the first touchdown in the first quarter, the Dons fought back with a field goal by sophomore Jonah Mack to end the first quarter at 7-3.

The Dons charged into the second quarter by rushing the Fullerton College quarterback to a fumble that was forced by freshman Barry Ware for a touchdown. Mack then reacted with a fierce kick attempt to seal the score at 21-10. Fullerton College answered back with 14 more points, but then sophomore Hakeem Thomas-Williams scored a 24 yard rush touchdown for the Dons.

The Hornets shut out the Dons for the remainder of the game by scoring 21 more points to lead them to the 94th Key to the County victory. Sophomore quarterback Connor Miller led the Dons by passing 139 yards total for the game.
