Dons Finish Season on a Five Game Winning Streak

SANTA ANA- Dons football wrapped the 2016 season with a 5-5 record and placed 2nd in the American Metro League. The Dons finished the season by ending on a five-game winning streak.

The team scored six 1st Team All-League players and seven 2nd Team All-League players. Freshmen Deven Boston, Joshua Rivera, and Mark Vargas all made the 1st All-League Offensive Team. Boston led the Metro League with rushing 11 touchdowns and 84.8 yards per game.

Sophomore Kameron Taylor, Freshman Conner Miller, and sophomore Billy Hanley all made 2nd All-League Offensive Team. Miller was third in the league for passing 211.9 yards per game and 18 touchdowns. Taylor placed fourth on the Metro League leaderboard in receiving 67.6 yards per game.

Sophomore Jonah Mack earned 1st All-League Special Team. He was ranked 9th in the Southern California Football Association and ranked 2nd in the Metro League with kicking 73% on field goals and 100% on extra points.  

Freshman Tongione Fahamokioa and sophomore Deionte Haywood were both selected as 1st All-League Defensive Team for the Dons. This season Haywood was second on the Metro League leaderboard for 6.5 sacks. Fahamokioa placed fourth with 5.5 sacks.

Freshman Brandon Legendre, freshman Andy Logue, sophomore Joshua Vizcaya, and sophomore Rion Santamaria made the 2nd All-League Defensive Team. Legendre had three sacks, 18 tackles, and 10 assists this season for the Dons. Santamaria averaged 4.6 tackles per game for the Dons.
