Football Sends Six to Next Level

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Six members of the Santa Ana Football team have committed to four-year schools after national signing day passed on Wednesday, Feb 7th.

The group consists of some of the Dons top offensive weapons, including quarterback Conner Miller, running back Deven Boston and receiver Devon Jackson Jr.

After a stellar season in which he was named CCCFCA Region IV Offensive Player of the Year, Miller has committed to Dixie State University. Miller ranked third in the state in passing yards with 2,952 and passing touchdowns at 28 to go along with three rushing touchdowns on the season. Dixie State is an NCAA Division II school that competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Star running back Deven Boston chose to take his talents to the University of Texas at San Antonio. Boston rushed for 1,243 total yards, which was the second most in the state, and scored 17 touchdowns on the ground for third in the state. Boston was also named to First Team All-Conference and All-State teams for his big performances this year. UTSA is an NCAA Division I school that competes in Conference USA.

Joining him in Conference USA is Santa Ana's lone All-American, receiver Devon Jackson Jr., as he committed to Middle Tennessee State University to play for the Blue Raiders. The wide receiver from Lindbergh, Washington was one of the top receivers in the state of California and recorded a stat line of 1,270 yards, 14 touchdowns and 67 receptions during the 2017 season.

On the defensive side of the ball, Santa Ana added three more to the list of transfers with defensive end Brandon Legendre, linebacker Anthony Koclanakis and defensive back Lautoa Nomura.

Legendre and Koclanakis will continue their careers at NCAA Division I Murray State University. Premiere pass rusher Legendre played his way onto the CCCFCA Region IV All-California First Team Defense list with 13 total sacks, which tied him for second in the state. Koclanakis led the Dons in tackles with 82 in 10 games to earn Defensive First Team All-Conference honors. The teammates will head to Kentucky to play for the Racers in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Lautoa Nomura rounds out the group, as he signed with the New Mexico State Aggies after two years with the Dons. Nomura was a huge part of Santa Ana's secondary, collecting 24 tackles, three pass deflections and one interception in the 2017 season. The Aggies are also an NCAA Division I school that plays in the Sun Belt Conference.

Santa Ana Football is off to a good start and will surely have more signings in the near future.
