Santa Ana Defeated by Rams, 41-20

SANTA ANA, Calif. – In its final game before heading to American Metro League play, the Santa Ana football team fell to the Victor Valley Rams 41-20 on Saturday night.

The Dons just didn't seem sharp in this one, suffering from uncharacteristic mistakes while the Rams took full advantage of their opportunities. Santa Ana shot themselves in the foot with three turnovers and four five dropped passes in key situations.

Victor Valley scored 41 points on 456 yards of offense while the Dons were held to 20 points and 174 yards.

Luke Wilson got the bulk of reps after the starting quarterback Connor Brown went down with an injury. Wilson completed 12 of his 33 passing attempts for 114 yards, and a touchdown to go along with 28 yards on the ground.

Jorgie Alvarado was the biggest performer on offense for the Dons, finishing with six catches for 53 yards. Nick Gallardo added to his touchdown total, catching his third on the year after connecting with Wilson on a 37-yard bomb in the third quarter.

Santa Ana's defense had some big individual stats with Zach Otero leading the charge with 10 total tackles and Brett Ferguson and Jose Garcia coming right behind with nine apiece.

The Dons will get a break with their bye week and then face West LA College for Homecoming weekend and their first AML game on Saturday, October 6th.
