SAC Football Begins AML Title Defense Against LA Southwest on Saturday

SANTA ANA, Calif. - The Don Football team is set to begin their American Metro League (AML) title defense against the LA Southwest Cougars (0-5) on Saturday night.

In week five, Santa Ana (1-4) secured their first win of the season with a 49-14 route over Grossmont College in non-league action. The Dons looked sharp on both sides of the field but the spotlight shined brightest on freshman defensive back Gabriel Magana, who recorded two interception returns for touchdowns during the blowout.

Magana was named Southern California Football Association Defensive Player of the Week for his dominant performance.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Dons made a key change as freshman quarterback Dallen Engemann got his first start of the season. Engemann went 29-41 in the air with three touchdowns and 246 passing yards.

Sophomore receiver Kristian Constantine had another big game, racking up program record 15 catches for 139 yards and two touchdowns on the day.

While the Dons look like they've found some answers midway through the season, LA Southwest will come into the game still in search of their own as the Cougars have lost five straight to begin the year. In their last game, LASW fell to College of the Desert by a score of 64-20.
