Santa Ana Falls to Chaffey in Third Place Game

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Santa Ana men's basketball team hosted the Chaffey Panthers in the third place game of the SAC Tipoff Tournament on Friday night.

Santa Ana played the Panthers tough but couldn't overcome another poor shooting night on top of 27 turnovers, dropping the game 79-62.

The Dons shot just 39.1 percent from the field (25-64), 25 percent from three (4-16) and 50 (8-16) from the free throw line.

Freshman forward James Ruwe scored a team high 16 points on 7-8 with three rebounds, two blocks and a couple steals while sophomore Chris Bailey added 13 points and eight rebounds on the night. Ramon Lopez and Jared Springer gave the Dons 10 points each, showing some promise in just their second collegiate game.

With the loss, Santa Ana starts the season with a 0-2 record while Chaffey improves to 1-1.
