Dons Earn Convincing 80-48 Win Over Orange Coast in OEC Opener

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Santa Ana men's basketball team got off to a good start in Orange Empire Conference play with a convincing 80-48 win over the Orange Coast Pirates (3-15, 0-2) on Friday night.

The Dons (7-10, 1-0) led from start to finish, dominating the Pirates on the glass 54-28. Santa Ana also held the advantage in shooting percentage as they held OCC to just 29.8 percent from the field while they shot an efficient 45.6 percent.

Ramon Lopez put together another solid game with 21 points and four assists. Sean Githens (13 pts) and Ronald Ellison (10 pts/10 rbs) joined him in double digits to provide a spark off the bench.

Sophomores Chris Bailey (9 pts/9 rbs/4 ast) and Jordan Owens (4 pts/7 rbs/5 ast) added solid numbers to help the Dons earn the win.

Santa Ana will go on the road on Wednesday, January 16th to take on No. 1 Fullerton in their second Orange Empire Conference game of the year. The Hornets are 17-1, 2-0 coming off a 74-53 win against Irvine Valley on Friday. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
