Santa Ana Men’s Basketball Falls Short of Comeback Against Cypress

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Santa Ana Men's Basketball fell short of a comeback against the Cypress Chargers (14-9, 6-5), dropping the game by a score of 70-59 in Orange Empire Conference action on Wednesday night.

After falling behind by as much as 18, the Dons battled back to cut the deficit to just six with 4:46 remaining on a couple free throws from Josh Danque

Unfortunately, the SAC run was stopped when Cypress answered with a three-pointer on the next play, followed by a couple of empty possessions on the offensive end. The Dons stayed within striking distance but just could not turn the corner.

Jonathan Joseph and Camren Johnson posted team highs in points with 11 points. The guards also combined for 10 assists and six rebounds.

The trio of Danque, Jake Duthoy and Ian Hietala went for nine points a piece, adding some much needed production for SAC.

With the loss, the Dons move to 4-16, 1-9 on the season and are headed into the second half of OEC play. They'll host Golden West (5-15, 0-9) in another OEC contest on Friday, Feb. 11th at 5:00 p.m.
