Dons Fall to No. 1 Ranked Fullerton

SANTA ANA, Calif. - The Santa Ana Men's Basketball team went up against the No. 1 ranked team in the state as they hosted the Fullerton Hornets (21-1, 10-0) in Orange Empire Conference play on Wednesday night.

Despite getting good production from two of their best scorers, the Dons (7-14, 3-6) just could not produce enough offense to keep up with the Hornets, falling by a score of 93-58.

Freshman forward Kelvonte Ellis scored a game high 23 points on 10-of-19 shooting to lead the Dons. Ellis was just shy of another double-double as he added nine boards to go along with two assists and a couple of blocks.

Tyler Woods, a freshman out of Orangewood Academy, held his own with 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting and four boards.

As a team, the Dons shot a decent percentage at 42.6 overall but struggled to take care of the ball as they committed 20 turnovers compared to just nine for Fullerton.

Santa Ana has now lost five straight and will try to get back on track this Friday as they go on the road to face Santiago Canyon (13-9, 5-5) at 6:00 p.m. The Dons took the win in their first matchup by a score of 80-70.
