Dons Allow Late Goal, Tie Palomar College 3-3

SANTA ANA - After breaking a 2-2 tie in the 85th minute, the Dons allowed a goal in the 88th minute as they played to a 3-3 tie with Palomar College in a non-conference game.

Palomar grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the seventh minute when the Dons scored an own goal. The Dons answered in the 25th minute when Ricardo Gonzalez stole a pass at the top of the box and found Ivan Orozco who fired a shot past the Comets goalkeeper to tie the match at 1-1.

Orozco notched his second goal of the match while giving the Dons their first lead of the game in the 58th minute on an assist by Victor Jimenez. Palomar got the equalizer in the 73rd minute before Orozco completed the hat trick in the 85th minute, giving the Dons a 3-2 lead.

That lead wouldn't hold as the Comets found the back of the net one last time, to pull even and earn the draw against the Dons. Chris Martinez played the entire game in goal for the Dons, allowing three goals while making four saves.

The Dons return to action Friday, September 7 when they host Oxnard College at 3:00 p.m.
