SANTA ANA - The Dons began defense of their 18-consecutive conference championships with an 8-0 win over visiting Norco College (2-5-1, 0-1-0) in the 2012 Orange Empire Conference opener.

It didn't take long for the Dons (4-1-3, 1-0-0) to get scoring started with Ivan Orozco scoring in the eighth minute on an assist from Ozzy Hernandez. But it did take a little longer for the second goal, that one came in the 31st minute and was scored by Amos De La Paz with an assist from John Teti.

Just seven minutes later, Teti picked up his second assist of the half when he found Orozco, who scored his second goal of the half in the 38th minute. The Dons fourth and final goal of the half came after the clock hit 45 minutes. Oscar Solares set up Jose Virgen who found the back of the net to give the Dons a 4-0 lead at the break.

The second half continued on much like the first with Damian Marquez scoring the Dons fifth and sixth goals of the game. His first goal came in the 55th minute from Roberto Gonzalez before Orozco set him up in the 62nd minute to put the Dons up 6-0.

Antonio Solis scored on an assist from Noel Arvizu in the 78th minute to make the score 7-0 before Teti added a goal to his two assists in the 84th minute for the Dons final goal. Teti's goal was assisted by Diego Zarate.

Jose Garcia made four saves in just over 70 minutes of work before Chris Martinez made one save to close out the Dons fifth shutout of the season.

The Dons stay at home for their next OEC match when they host Cypress College this Friday at 3:00 p.m.
