Santa Ana Drops Heated Match in Top 10 Showdown Against Fullerton

SANTA ANA, Calif. – On Tuesday, the Santa Ana men's soccer team hosted Fullerton College in a top 10 showdown. The No. 6 ranked Dons went into the match with a 4-0-1 record after finishing in a 2-2 tie against No. 17 Santiago Canyon last week while No. 8 Fullerton College held a 6-1 record with two conference wins.

The match seemed like it up for grabs until Fullerton took the lead in the 27th minute. They added some insurance shortly after with another goal in the 36th minute, giving them a 2-0 advantage going into the half.

Santa Ana just couldn't find a way to counter and put the ball away in the second half, leading to their first loss of the season.

Game Notes

Thing got heated on the sidelines late in the second half as the talking began to spill over from the playing field. Fans should put the next matchup between these two teams on their calendar (Oct. 19th at FCC) because it's sure to be a battle.

Next Up

The Dons go back on the road on Friday, September 21st for another OEC match, this time against Irvine Valley College at 3:00 p.m. The Lasers are 3-5,1-2 after defeating Orange Coast by a score of 3-0 on Tuesday.
