No. 18 Dons Pull Away from Cypress for Second OEC Win

SANTA ANA, Calif. – In another Orange Empire Conference match, the No. 18 Santa Ana men's soccer team defeated the Cypress Chargers by a score of 3-1.

Early on, the game was slow paced and neither team had many goal scoring opportunities. It wasn't until the 42nd minute when Jesus Nunez tapped a ball in for his ninth goal of the season that the Dons would take their lead.

Santa Ana struck again to go up 2-0 on a goal from Carlos Guerra in the 59th minute, giving them a cushion that they needed. The Chargers countered with their first goal of the day in the 73rd minute of play but couldn't put enough pressure on the Dons to tie it.

Roberto Venegas would score late to put the match away for good, giving the Dons a 3-1 win. Santa Ana is now 6-1-3, 2-1-3 while the Chargers fall to 1-11, 0-6.
