Dons Escape with 1-0 Win Over Mustangs, Extend Winning Streak to Three

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The No. 16 ranked Santa Ana men's soccer team escaped with a 1-0 win over the Norco Mustangs to extend its winning streak to three games.

Norco had plenty of opportunities in this one but was unable to finish when they needed to. Instead, the Dons capitalized on one of their tougher shots of the day when freshman forward Kevin Ruiz hooked a ball into the lower right corner of the net to score the only goal of the day in the 22nd minute.

Neither team could score another goal in the match, giving Santa Ana the win to improve to 7-1-3 overall and 3-1-3 in the Orange Empire Conference. The Mustangs are now 4-5-2, 1-5-1 after the loss.

GAME NOTES

Goalkeeper Frank Aguilar returned to the lineup after missing the previous two contests due to injury. Aguilar went all 90 minutes, recording six saves for the shutout.
