Late PK Gives Santa Ana 1-1 Draw Against Cypress

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Two goals in the last seven minutes made for an exciting finish as No. 15 Santa Ana men's soccer hosted No. 10 Cypress in an Orange Empire Conference contest on Tuesday.

In the 83rd minute, Cypress got on the board first after being fouled in the box and putting away the ensuing penalty shot to make it a 1-0 game.

A desperate Santa Ana team responded by putting pressure on the Cypress backline from then on out and was rewarded when a handball was called in the 88th minute.

Joshua Castellon stepped up to take the shot and knocked it in for his fourth goal of the season.

The draw keeps Santa Ana in third place in the OEC standings at a record of 10-4-3, 4-2-3 while the Chargers stay at sixth with a 9-2-6, 2-2-5 record.

NEXT UP: SAC men's soccer travels to Irvine Valley (7-6-7, 3-4-3) for another OEC match on Friday, November 8th. The Dons defeated IVC 2-1 in their first match this season.
