Dons Finish with 1-1 Draw Against First Place Golden West

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Santa Ana men's soccer team was two minutes away from giving the Golden West Rustlers their first loss in Orange Empire Conference play on Tuesday afternoon. But unfortunate injuries to SAC's backline and a relentless offensive effort from Golden West led to the Rustlers scoring a goal in extra time to finish the match with a 1-1 draw.

Gilberto Garcia scored his eighth goal of the season on an assist from Marcelo Aguirre to put Santa Ana up 1-0 at the 70 minute mark. The Dons felt they did enough to win after a red card was called on Golden West, giving them an 11 on 10 advantage with only stoppage time left.

Four extra minutes were given from there, providing GWC with just enough time to put one in goal.

SAC goalkeeper Frank Aguilar had some big moments and finished the eight saves. The sophomore from Norco High is now second in the OEC in saves at 82.

NEXT UP: The Dons will host Orange Coast (11-3-5, 5-2-4) in their last home match of the season on Friday at 3:00 p.m. SAC defeated the Pirates 1-0 in the first matchup.
