Dons Battle with GWC Ends in 2-2 Tie

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Santa Ana Men's Soccer got out to a 2-0 advantage in Friday's Orange Empire Conference matchup against the Golden West Rustlers (4-1-5) but saw their lead slip away as they ended in a 2-2 tie after allowing two goals late in the second half.

Sophomore defender Antonio Wall gave SAC the first goal of the day on a header that was set up by Josue Martinez's corner kick in the 19th minute.

The Dons extended their lead after drawing a foul in the box in the 22nd minute which gave Jesse Mancilla a penalty kick opportunity that he tucked into the corner of the goal.

Golden West made some adjustments in the second half to put more pressure on the SAC goal. The Rustlers got on the board with a goal in the 69th minute to make it a 2-1 game.

With time running out, the Rustlers began to cross balls into the box with urgency and eventually saw one headed in to tie the score.

Santa Ana moves to 4-3-4, 0-1-1 with a tie and will be back in action Friday to host Orange Coast (3-6, 1-0) at 3:00 p.m.
