Martinez Leads Dons to 1-0 Win Over Cypress

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Sophomore forward Josue Martinez wrapped a shot around the Charger goalkeeper and into the lower left corner of the goal to give Santa Ana Men's Soccer the decisive goal in their 1-0 win over Cypress (5-4-3, 2-2) on Tuesday afternoon.

Martinez collected his fifth goal of the season as he took advantage of an errant punt that set him up.

Santa Ana's goalkeeper Jorge Cortes did not record a save in the match but played a critical role in directing the defense to earn his third shutout of the season.

With the win, the Dons (6-3-4, 2-1-1) move into second place for the time being as they await the end of the match between Fullerton and Orange Coast, which was postponed due to lightning.

SAC will go on the road on Friday to take on Santiago Canyon (0-4, 4-6-1) in another Orange Empire Conference match at 3:00 p.m.
