The Santa Ana College (SAC) men's water polo team lost its first game of the season 21-9 to visiting Fullerton College in an Orange Empire Conference match.
The match started off evenly with Fullerton (1-0, 1-0) scoring first before Matt Harmier tied it up at 1-1 three minutes into the first quarter. Fullerton reclaimed the lead before the Dons (0-1, 0-1) tied it once again, this time on a goal by Conrad Spargur.
Fullerton added two more goals to take a 4-2 lead after the first quarter before extending its lead to 7-2 halfway through the second. The Dons answered with three-straight goals, scored by Spencer Knowles, Duncan Wilson and Spargur, to cut the Hornets lead to 7-5 in the third quarter.
However, Fullerton went on to outscore the Dons 14-4 to close out the game. Spargur scored two of the Dons final four goals with Adrian Haro and Harmier adding the other two.
