Dons Cap Run at Citrus Tournament with 14-6 Win over LA Trade Tech

GLENDORA - After scoring nine goals in three games, Micah Mathis saved his best for last as his eight-goal performance led the Dons to a 14-6 win over Los Angeles Trade Tech in the final game of the Citrus Tournament.

The Dons didn't waste any time as they jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first quarter with Mathis scoring two of the Dons early goals. LA Trade Tech then played the Dons even in the second quarter, 2-2, as the game went to halftime with SAC leading by just two goals at 5-3.

That's when Mathis took over, scoring three of his eight goals in the third quarter as the Dons pulled out to an 11-5 lead before ultimately taking the game 14-6. Joining Mathis was Nick Beavers and Fernando Lopez with two goals apiece while Nicholas Todd and Duncan Wilson added one more goal each. Wes Kobel ended his weekend making 12 saves in the win, giving him 58 saves in the tournament.

The Dons kick off Orange Empire Conference competition on Wednesday, September 12 when they host Riverside City College at 3:00 p.m.
