Tough Second Quarter Dooms Dons in 17-9 Loss to Riverside City

SANTA ANA - The Dons dropped their first home match of the season 17-9 to visiting Riverside City College in an Orange Empire Conference match. The loss drops the Dons to 3-9 overall and 0-2 in conference play. The Tigers, on the other hand, improve to 5-3 overall and 2-0 in conference.

The Dons got two goals apiece from Jeremy Scharf, Christopher Fausto, Joshua Sanchez and Nima Kashani. But it wasn't enough as the Tigers had a big second quarter to push them to the victory.

After Riverside City outscored the Dons 5-3 in the first frame, the Tigers won the second quarter 7-1 to take a commanding 12-4 lead into halftime. The two teams then played an even second half, with Riverside taking the third quarter 3-2 before the Dons took the fourth quarter 3-2.

To go with the four, two-goal performances, Robert Bradshaw scored SAC's first goal to round out the scoring.
