Kitsinis Earns First Win as Dons Defeat Long Beach 5-2

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Kali Kitsinis earned the first win of her Santa Ana career on Wednesday afternoon, as the Dons Softball team (2-3) defeated the Long Beach City Vikings (5-4) by a score of 5-2.

In her third start of the season, Kitsinis went seven innings with three strikeouts and just two earned runs. For the Vikings, Elena Vizcarra took the loss after coming in to relieve Alissa Cienfuegos, who went the first three innings.

The bulk of Santa Ana's offense came in the fifth inning when they scored three runs on four hits and an error. With two outs, Mady Myers dropped a bunt down the line to run out a single. After stealing second, she advanced to third on Karlee Rivera's single. Victoria Moreno brought her in and put Rivera at third with a sacrifice fly to right field, giving the Dons a 1-0 lead.

Stephanie Rojas would bring in the second run with a safety squeeze play that scored Rivera and then Jeana Gonzalez doubled down the left field line to finish the rally for the Dons later that inning, scoring Genesis Pulido for the third run.

Santa Ana put up two more runs in the six while Long Beach got on the board with two in the seventh, making the final score 5-2.

The Dons are now on a two-game win streak with a matchup against Southwestern College coming on Friday, Feb. 9th at 1:00 p.m. The Jaguars are 3-2 overall and lost their game on Wednesday 6-2 against Riverside City.
