Dons Challenge Top Ranked Cypress but Fall 2-0

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Santa Ana's Softball team (6-6) was ready for the challenge of facing the No.1 Cypress Chargers (10-0) in its first home Orange Empire Conference game on Wednesday afternoon.

The Dons held Cypress to a season low two runs on seven hits because of a great performance from starting pitcher Kali Kitsinis. The sophomore transfer from Chaminade University went the whole seven innings with two strikeouts and two earned runs in the tough loss.

With just a two-run deficit in the seventh, Santa Ana put some pressure on the Chargers as Karlee Rivera delivered with a one out double to right center field to bring the game tying run to the plate. Although the Dons had a couple good at bats at the end, they failed to bring the run in and ended the game down 2-0.

Santa Ana will be back at home on Friday with another Orange Empire Conference matchup against Fullerton College at 2:00 p.m.
