De La Torre Leads Dons to 5-2 Win Over Fullerton

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Priscilla De La Torre picked up her fourth win of the season on Friday afternoon, as Santa Ana (7-6, 2-1) outlasted the Fullerton Hornets (3-4, 0-2) by a score of 5-2 in an Orange Empire Conference game.

De La Torre got the start in this one, going seven innings with five strikeouts and just one earned run to improve to 4-1 on the season. The Hornets put up the first run of the game in the top of the first but De La Torre settled in shortly after, cruising until the seventh inning.

The run support from the Dons offense came in the bottom of the first when Desirae McCormick hit a two RBI single up the middle to bring in Karlee Rivera and Tiana Patrick to give Santa Ana the lead. The Dons struck again in the fifth, scoring three runs in the inning on Rivera's triple and another McCormick single.

McCormick had a tremendous day, going 3-3 with three RBI's to raise her batting average to .364 on the season. Rivera and Patrick added two hits and a couple runs each while combining for an RBI to help the cause.

Santa Ana will take a break from OEC play with a road contest at College of the Desert on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and then the Dons will take on Santiago Canyon College on Wednesday, Feb. 28th at 3:00 p.m. for their next conference game.
