Santa Ana Walks Off on No. 9 Riverside

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Santa Ana Softball (10-6, 4-1) grabbed its fourth straight win by defeating the No. 9 Riverside City Tigers (11-6, 3-2) with a walk-off walk in the 8th inning.

It was a low scoring game as both teams only managed to get across one run before extra innings. The Tigers threatened in the top of the eighth with a leadoff double but had a costly baserunning error that resulted in a game changing double play for the Dons.

In the bottom of the inning, Santa Ana came out with all the momentum and loaded the bases with no outs to put the Tigers in a tough spot. The next batter, Jeana Gonzalez, worked a walk to bring home the winning run.

Kali Kitsinis went all eight innings to pick up her fourth win of the season. She finished with three strikeouts, eight hits and one earned run. Tiana Patrick recorded two hits while Mady Myers and Gianna Gutierrez combined for the rest of the Dons four hits.

The Dons have now defeated two top 10 opponents in their last two games, as they defeated the No. 5 Santiago Canyon Hawks 6-4 the day before.

Next, the Dons will play their third game in three days against another top 10 ranked team, as they host No. 4 Mt. San Antonio College at 3:00 p.m.
