Dons Streak Ends at Four with Loss to No. 4 Mt. SAC

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Dons Softball team went for its fifth straight win on Friday afternoon as they hosted No. 4 Mt. San Antonio College in a non-conference game.

After seven innings, Santa Ana fell to Mt. SAC by a score of 8-2 to end their winning streak at four games. The Dons dropped to a record of 10-7, while the Mounties extended their winning streak to 13 games with a record of 14-1 overall.

Mt. SAC jumped ahead early with a three run second inning and added one more in the fifth. In the bottom of the fifth, Jeana Gonzalez singled to bring home the first run of the day for the Dons. Soon after, Mady Myers drove in the second run of the inning with a ground ball to second base, bring the score to 4-2.

The score stayed the same until the Mounties added some insurance runs in the seventh inning, scoring four to make it an 8-2 game. The Dons had one last shot but couldn't get anything going, ending the game and the win streak.

Santa Ana is now 2-3 against teams ranked in the top 10 in the state and will surely have to be in the mix when the next state rankings come out. The Dons will return to action on Wednesday, March 7th to host Golden West College in an Orange Empire Conference game.
