Rivera’s Walk Off Single Lifts Dons to 4-3 Win

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Karlee Rivera sent the Dons home happy with a walk off single to defeat the Orange Coast Pirates 4-3 in Wednesday's Orange Empire Conference matchup.

The Dons found themselves down by one run in the bottom of the seventh after the Pirates managed to rally for one in the top of the inning. Genesis Pulido gave the Dons life with a one out single that just got over the glove of the Pirate's shortstop. Makayla Peralta then attempted a sacrifice bunt to move her teammate over but reached base on an Orange Coast error, giving Rivera the opportunity to cash in and end the game as she did.

Priscilla De La Torre earned the win after putting in seven innings of work with one earned run and a strikeout. The sophomore from Paloma Valley improved her record to 7-1 with a 2.88 ERA and 23 strikeouts.

Santa Ana is now 2-0 against the Pirates with just a two run differential, as they won the first time by a score of 4-3 as well. Overall, SAC sits a 13-7, 7-1 while Orange Coast drops to 9-11, 2-6.

On Friday, the Dons will travel to Cypress College for a battle for first place in the Orange Empire Conference against the No. 2 Chargers at 2:00 p.m.
