SAC Falls 2-1 in Extra Innings to Fullerton

SANTA ANA, Calif. – In the last of its four game homestand, the Santa Ana Softball team fell to the Fullerton Hornets 2-1 in extra innings.

The loss makes it three straight for the Dons, who are now tied for second in the Orange Empire Conference standings with a record of 12-5.

Santa Ana's starting pitcher Kali Kitsinis threw for the fourth day in a row and had another great outing with just two earned runs and three strikeouts in nine innings. Kitsinis is now eighth in earned run average in the OEC at 3.02 and fifth in strikeouts with 49 on the season.

Mady Myers led the Dons offensively with two hits and the team's only RBI while Karlee Rivera chipped in with two hits of her own.

The Hornets chose to avoid the bat of Jeana Gonzales, intentionally walking her in two key situations. Fullerton's gamble paid off as they held the Dons to one run while leaving 11 runners stranded on base.

Next, the Dons will go on the road for another rematch against No. 7 Santiago Canyon on Wednesday, April 18th at 3:00 p.m. The winner will take sole possession of second place in the OEC standings.
