Myers Takes Home OEC Defensive Player of the Year, Five Total Dons Recognized

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Five Dons were recognized on Thursday, as the 2018 Orange Empire Conference All-Conference teams and awards were announced by the OEC softball coaches.

Freshman center fielder Maddy Myers took home the Defensive Player of the Year award to headline to the group of Santa Ana standouts. Myers totaled 60 putouts and just four errors while making incredible catches all over the field this season.

Kali Kitsinis, Karlee Rivera and Tiana Patrick all landed on the OEC All-Conference First team while Jeana Gonzales earned the honorary mention after leading Santa Ana to second place finish.

Kitsinis was one of the most important pieces down the stretch for the Dons as she started the last seven games in a row. She threw a total of 151.1 innings with 63 strikeouts and a 2.68 ERA.

Santa Ana's offense was led by the trio of Rivera, Patrick and Gonzales as they combined for a total of 133 hits, 63 RBI's and 34 stolen bases. They also accounted for 44 percent of the teams runs.

The 12th seeded Dons will head to post season play on Friday, May 4th at El Camino College for the CCCAA Regionals.
