Hodge Leads Late Rally, Dons Win 6-2

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Maddy Hodge came up big with a bases clearing triple to break the game open in Santa Ana's 6-2 win over the LA Mission Eagles.

In their home opener, the Dons started slow and were held scoreless until exploding for six runs in the fifth inning. Brandi Kirkpatrick got the Dons on the board with an RBI double to bring in Karlee Rivera. Soon after, Stephanie Rojas knocked in another run with a single to left, helping the Dons take a 2-1 lead. Hodge broke it open with her triple to left and then scored the last run as Raeleen Pelayo got into an intentional rundown, making the score 6-1 going to the sixth inning.

The Eagles (0-3) would score once more but it wasn't enough to stop with Dons from getting out with a 6-2 win and improving to 5-0.

Aspen Kyles got the start and went 4.2 innings with three strikeouts and just one unearned run before handing the ball to Nicole Yniguez. Yniguez finished the last 2.1 innings, striking out one and earning the win.
