SAC Softball Holds on to Defeat Ventura 7-5

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Dons were on the verge of mercy ruling the Ventura Pirates with a 7-0 lead in the fifth inning but couldn't finish it off when they had the chance. The Pirates worked their way out of a tough jam and into the dugout where they went on to score three runs in the fifth to make it a game again.

Ventura kept chipping away, scoring a run in both the sixth and seventh innings until the Dons finally shut things down to win 7-5.

Jeana Gonzales added to a spectacular start to her season with a two RBI double in the fourth inning to blow things open. She went 1-2 with a run, an RBI and a walk to improve her season average to .421.

The rest of the offense primarily came from Karlee Rivera, Raeleen Pelayo, Maddy Hodge and Victoria Moreno, who combined to go 4-8 with four hits, four RBI's and two runs on the day.

Aspen Kyles got the start and the win after going four and two third innings with one strikeout and one earned run. Nicole Yniguez went the rest of way with two and a third innings and one earned run.
