Dons Hold off Gauchos for 10th Win of the Year

SANTA ANA, Calif. – After falling behind 2-0 in the first inning, the Santa Ana softball team stormed back to defeat the Saddleback Gauchos 6-4 for it's 10th win of the season and second in Orange Empire Conference play.

The Dons started their come back in the bottom of the first when Jeana Gonzales hit a single to center to bring home Raeleen Pelayo for her 10th RBI of the season, cutting the lead in half.

In the second, Stephanie Rojas scored to tie the game on a sacrifice fly from Karlee Rivera.

Saddleback fought to stay in control, answering with a go ahead run in the fourth but couldn't hold the Dons as they rallied for four runs in the bottom of the inning to go up 6-3.

A couple doubles from Desirae McCormick and Karlee Rivera along with a big single by Drea DeFord helped SAC take advantage of a Saddleback error.

The Gauchos kept the pressure on by answering with a run in the fifth, but Santa Ana's Nicole Yniguez continued her dominance to collect another win, improving her record to 7-1.
