Kyles Dominates, Dons Defeat Golden West 5-1

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Aspen Kyles led the No. 13 ranked Santa Ana softball team to a 5-1 victory against the Golden West Rustlers in Friday's Orange Empire Conference contest.

Kyles had a brilliant game and found herself just three outs away from a no-hitter in the seventh inning. But the Rustlers had different plans, as Cami Cohen hit a leadoff double to break it up and eventually came around to score.

The freshman from El Modena High still found a way to finish the game, earning her third win of the season with a four strikeout, two hit performance.

Santa Ana's Maddison Reddick supplied the some of the run support for Kyles, going 2-3 with an RBI while Desirae McCormick and Makayla Peralta got in on the action with a hit and an RBI each.

With the win, the Dons broke a three game losing streak, improving their record to 11-5 overall and 3-2 in OEC play.

The Dons will travel to Walnut to play against No. 1 Mt. San Antonio College on Monday to make up their game that was postponed due to rain on Feb. 9th. First pitch is set for 4:00 p.m.
