No. 13 Santa Ana Falls to No. 9 Fullerton in OEC Action

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The No. 13 ranked Santa Ana softball team dropped a game to the No. 9 Fullerton Hornets by a score of 6-0 on Wednesday afternoon.

Leadoff hitter Karlee Rivera singled up the middle in the bottom of the first, but after that the Don bats went cold, failing to record another hit in the game.

Nicole Yniguez took the unfortunate loss, tossing 4.2 innings with two strikeouts and two earned runs. Brandi Kirkpatrick went in late to finish the game, going 2.1 scoreless innings with a strikeout.

The Dons drew five walks throughout the game, two coming from Rivera, but couldn't capitalize to provide their pitching staff some run support.

Santa Ana falls to 15-7, 5-4, keeping them in fourth place in the Orange Empire Conference standings. The Hornets improved to 17-4, 7-3 and remain in second place.
